INTERESTED IN COMPANY?

HERE’S WHAT WE’RE ALL ABOUT

If you have a child who loves to dance, loves to perform and is ready to commit a lot of time and talent, then consider having them audition for Company, the competitive and performance aspect of The Dance Project. It involves additional rehearsals and travel to dance conventions and competitions throughout the region so dancers are exposed to other choreography and the responsibility of competing. Perhaps more importantly, being a part of Company helps build self confidence, develop a great work ethic and enhance self-discipline and teamwork among the dancers. Please make the decision to audition very carefully and do not audition if you or your child are “on the fence.” If there is any doubt at all, it’s probably a better idea not to audition as the commitment level is very high. We are looking forward to working with dancers who are talented, work hard and are excited about being a part of a strong Company.

EXPECTATIONS OF A TDP COMPANY MEMBER:

Come as you are, express your individuality and practice to better yourself every day for the sake of your team.

  • Must be willing to work to have a healthy mind and body

  • Must be self-motivated and able to self-evaluate

  • Must have solid technical and performance skills

  • Strong desire to grow and develop as a dancer

  • Must have a sense of humor, bright smile, and positive attitude

  • Must care for and respect fellow teammates and staff members

  • Show support for the studio, teachers and fellow dancers

  • Must have a supportive family base that shows respect for the teachers and students at all times

Commitment Level:

At TDP, we are flexible and willing to work with school sports/events, HOWEVER, you must recognize TDP as a priority and commitment as well. We offer different levels for our team, and ask that you don’t commit to a high level if you are not willing to follow through with that commitment. Company season runs from September to June. This is a serious commitment and will not be taken lightly. Participants are expected to fulfill their commitment, and must sign a parent/student agreement form in order to be on company. Our company attends: 1-2 conventions per year, 3 competitions per year, 1 nationals every other year; as well as participates in multiple community events throughout the year and hosts our own recital to showcase our students in June.

Benefits of Competition:

Competing against some of the best teams allows our teachers and students the opportunity to be inspired by the talent across the country. This is how The Dance Project is continuously evolving with the times while challenging ourselves to grow to new heights. Students who wish to pursue dance professionally have an opportunity to grow and develop their performance skills through competition. Competition allows the dancer to perform more frequently and teaches them the importance of thriving under pressure. TDP company soloists (encouraged for all members on company) also required to attend 1-2 conventions per season, giving our dancers the opportunity to take class from teachers who are currently working professionally. Being apart of our competition team helps a dancer build their confidence while simultaneously becoming a well-rounded, well-trained performer.
